Most people never really give a thought to working on their own chakras because they just aren’t sure about how to even start that process, let alone do it regularly. They assume that is what the Reiki Master is there for, so why would they even think they could or should do anything on their own?

As a Reiki Master, the greatest thing I could do is to help you heal and then help you learn how to heal yourself as well. That is the primary motivation I had for creating what I called the “Chakra Healing Kit“. Although initially designed to just give to my clients after a Reiki session, I later created a format that anyone can have access to.

The goal or purpose of the Chakra Healing Kit is to help anyone practice opening themselves for healing, and then practice allowing the healing to take place. We all have the capacity to perform healing, and this kit will help you find the initial focus that is often necessary to open up to spirit and its capacity to bring about true healing.

If you come to an on-site Reiki session at my home, I will give you one to take with you, based upon which chakra seemed to need the most work to clear and open. I prefer to also walk you through the best practices of using the kit and help you with your first practice session before you leave my home. There are detailed instructions on the back, so this isn’t pivotal, just helpful.

Alternatively, if you are a Reiki Master who would like to offer these to their clients, or for anyone who just wants a very helpful aid to work with, I have made these kits available for purchase online.

The kits include information about suggested Chakra related influences, meditations, crystals, essential oils and affirmations. This data can act as keys that open your spirit and mind for healing.

How do the kits work?

The Chakra Healing Kit was designed to provide you with a few simple tools and information that will help you find and hold a place of focus where you open yourself for healing and restore your chakras to some degree. You might open them fully or just a small amount, but every moment where you make an intention to be open for healing will lead to improved spiritual, mental and physical health overall.

To further assist you in creating the necessary focus, the kits include crystals or gemstones to place on the chosen chakra area to help focus healing energy there, plus there is a chakra related essential oil that you apply to the cotton balls or your own oil diffuser which allows you to breathe in the aroma to further increase the focus of your healing energy. Using Reiki, you become a channel for healing energy to flow into areas of a person’s field where healing is needed. This can be applied to yourself, others, pets, animals of any kind, plants, trees, and more. Basically, anything that may potentially be damaged or not whole, could make use of Reiki healing energy to help resolve, balance and provide a healing environment for that issue.

A Quick History of Reiki

The earliest version of Reiki was that of Mataji Kawakami, who Created Reiki Ryoho in 1914. This was quickly followed by Mikao Usui who fashioned Usui Reiki in the early 1920’s. Both forms of Reiki were powerful, but the Usui Reiki version became more popular when it was delivered to the Hawaiian island in the late 1930’s and then moved to the US during the 1980’s.

I did a little digging and found a high quality Reiki training book on Amazon, based upon the original teachings of Mikao Usui, called
The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui  . I highly recommend you get a copy and use it to provide greater insight into Reiki overall.

For anybody interested in becoming involved with performing healing of any kind, I would highly recommend that you obtain Reiki training since this will provide you with a wonderful base from which you can grow. Overall it would be best to embrace it fully and become a reiki master so that all the aspects of this wonderful healing source become open to you. Of course, this is not a requirement, but simply a suggestion because that path worked well for me.

For myself, I enjoy using online services for learning. It allows me to make the best use of my own time and schedule things much more easily. If this works for you as well, I would suggest you take advantage of an online Reiki course. If asked for a recommendation, I could most highly recommend my own teacher and Reiki Master Teacher, Melissa Crowhurst, who offers online reiki courses as well as many other online healing courses.

Melissa is a true teacher and she provides a great method for learning Reiki at your own pace. She does provide a total overview of Reiki, but focuses mainly on what you need to learn and experience to become an effective Reiki practitioner of your own. Overall, I thought she was awesome, so I don’t think you can go wrong by attending her classes.

If you don’t desire to learn online or simply prefer a more physical connection when being taught, you may find that there are Reiki Masters in your general area that provide classes several times a year. As a quick reference, if you have a favorite shop where you buy crystals, essential oils, etc, you can very likely find information for a Reiki Master Teacher there or even discover that classes are performed there regularly.

Even after having learned Reiki, I still did not feel the level of energy that I had initially hoped. I did feel some things, and was told this would grow over time, but I did not want to leave this to chance, so I did some additional studying about Mikao Usui to get extra insight as to what he had originally taught and I looked for things that could help me create a better focus with Reiki.

For me, it helped to learn a few simple meditation and breathing exercises to better establish my state of being and capacity to open myself for the Reiki power to flow and be most useful. Here are a few of the steps I now refer to when opening myself for Reiki.

Accessing the True Power of Reiki

• Gassho – Sit with your spine straight, head level, with your hands placed together in front of your chest as in prayer. Close your eyes and focus only on the point where your two middle fingers meet. Let everything else go. Do this for 10 to 20 minutes to clear your mind.

• Reiji-Ho – Before performing any Reiki treatment, assume the same position as with Gassho and ask or say you allow Reiki power to flow through you. Then extend your intention to allow and provide what is best for your patient (or self). Follow up with placing your folded hands in front of your third eye and ask the Reiki power to guide your hands to those parts of the physical or metaphysical body that need the healing.

• Tanden – To clear your energy flow and better prepare yourself to provide healing, it helps to clear yourself of any unhelpful energy and energize yourself with Reiki Power. To do this, inhale deeply while visualizing yourself inhaling Reiki power into your being, and then hold your breath to allow the Reiki to be fully absorbed by your being and your Tanden (the center of your being), then as your exhale through your mouth, imagine the Reiki exhaling through every part of your body, thereby clearing you and energizing you at the same time. Do this several times.

• Joshin Kokyuu-Ho – While performing the Reiki session, or even just when meditating, pay attention to your breathing, and as you breathe in, imagine you are also breathing in the Reiki through your nose and crown chakra.

• Yuki – Now extend your breathing practice to imagine that as you inhale and exhale Reiki, you inhale and exhale through your hands as well, where energy is flowing into and out of you. As you move your hands across your patient, you will sense a tingling when an area requires healing. Keep your hands over the area until the tingling stops.

OK, I know I am talking about standard Reiki, but this article is supposed to be about Deep Healing Reiki. I do believe basic Reiki is the beginning of understanding energy healing, but there is a much deeper level of healing you can achieve with practice, patience, intention, and following your intuition. I suggest you use reiki as a beginning, but allow your higher self, guides, angels or whoever walks with you, to guide you towards greater levels of healing ability.

You can refer to this process as deep healing Reiki, meaning that it uses our current comprehension of Reiki as a beginning, but then extends into new or other aspects of healing that provide higher levels of results, while also allowing you to extend healing in your own personal way. Then allow your concept of what healing is to expand beyond what you think it is today, and your own unique pathway for healing will be well underway.

As you practice healing, and allow yourself to continuously open more to spirit and their guidance, you may find that your Reiki gifts of healing become stronger, create results more quickly, and treat a broader array of circumstances. Much of this happens all on its own after opening your heart for a deeper level of service, and simply allowing it to happen.

You can provide your own name for any form of deep healing Reiki since it would be a genuinely unique healing modality of your very own, so you can do that if it helps you identify this as something different to your clients or friends and family. It will all depend on how you want to express or explain your style of healing, but to keep things simple, you can always just refer to it as Reiki, or deep healing Reiki, extended Reiki, extreme Reiki, or some variation of that.

For myself, I used Reiki as a beginning, but then incorporated many of the other things I have learned over time, and created a 20 to 30 minute session that not only delivers all the results that a standard Reiki session would have provided, but includes releasing blocks, cutting cords and connections, and establishing new affirmations. The session concludes by being bathed in a deep healing light at the center of my heart chakra that goes beyond any request for specific healing and just provides whatever is best at that time. I simply refer to the whole process as a Deep Healing Light which was the basis for this website and my healing services.

You can do a similar thing of your own. You could do exactly what I do, or something totally different, or any variation in between, but it really doesn’t matter as long as it is your heart’s intention to heal. That is really the only thing that matters and that’s why the specific method or rituals can vary or even be set aside, because the only thing that truly matters is your intention.

It isn’t necessary that you do anything specific during the healing. You could just go about your life as usual. This will have no negative effect on the results, however, if you would like to join in and sit quietly or meditate for 30 minutes during the session, you may experience some of the healing activity as fuzzy feelings in your head, heart or wherever healing is happening. When doing that, your own healing energy might also be added to the group and you would be part of helping others heal as well.

First, let’s look at the concept of a ritual and why they were important. Any ritual places you in a mode where your focus is captured while also creating a circumstance to help you believe a certain result may happen. They exist solely to help us get past the perception that we cannot do something on our own.

For example, many ancient rituals included the concept of a blood sacrifice in order to be granted forgiveness or favor in their god’s eyes. Likewise, many modern beliefs still have a system of orderly tasks that must be performed in order to gain Gods’ favor or attention.

For any type of ritual, no matter how old or new, the act of performing specific tasks, in a specific order while saying specific things, leads to qualify the act as a something worthy of God’s attention, and then the specific request could then be granted by God.

So why am I now saying this is no longer necessary? I am not saying that. I am saying it was never necessary, but we didn’t believe enough in our true connection with our creator, so it was an inevitable path we had to take that would eventually lead us to understand it was never necessary.

About four years ago while attending a Reiki class, this confusion between the perceived need of ritual and the true power of intention became clear to me.

During the class, two things I was taught stood out to me to be in direct conflict with each other and it surprised me that nobody else was seeing this. The concept and associated ritual were:

• Concept: When performing Reiki, learn to let go and release your idea of what needs to be healed. Spirit knows what needs attention or healing, and it will direct the energy where it is most useful. Reiki practitioners are a conduit for the energy, not the creators or directors of it.
• Ritual: While performing Reiki, there is a system of hand placements where you spend approx 3 minutes at each location being a conduit of energy for that location. You would place your hands, above the head, then behind the head, along side the head, over the third eye chakra, over the throat chakra, over the heart chakra, over the naval chakra, over the sacral chakra, over the root chakra, over the knees and legs and finish over the feet.
• Ritual: There are symbols you can use overall or at each location to provide deeper healing. These are Japanese writing symbols created by Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki. To use these symbols, you must memorize them and then write or draw them in the air at the time of use. Some symbols are:

• Cho Ku Ray (bring the power of the universe here)
• Sei Hei Ki (Emotional healing and calming)
• Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (The higher self in me connects with the higher self in you)

Maybe it’s obvious to you as well, but I know my first thought was that if spirit knows what needs to be healed, why is it necessary to go through this process of placing attention at all these specific points around the body?

Likewise, having to memorize and re-write the the various symbols in order for them to work also seemed to be unnecessary since spirit is not physical, so there should be no required physical gestures in order to communicate a thought.

At first I questioned whether I was just being lazy or maybe I just wasn’t serious enough to see the necessity of all the required steps to perform a successful Reiki session on myself or somebody else, so I actually set aside the idea for several years.

Recently I came to a knowing that the only thing that matters is your intention, so again, using Reiki as my example, you would approach your healing or the healing of another with whatever approach is comfortable for you.

You could visualize that experience in any way you desire, provided your intentions are true that you are a conduit for healing and that healing energy will simply go where most helpful. You could then perform the entire session with your hand placed only on the persons head, or from any distance with them not being there at all. It doesn’t matter.

There is no wrong way to extend healing. The results may vary depending upon what you believe or allow, but if you keep yourself open for spirit to direct and guide you, you will be given ideas of what allows better energy flow and then you simply let go of ideas that are not as helpful as you originally thought.

NOBODY here has coined the end-all, be-all system for healing, because if they did, I think they would immediately transcend, so while you pursue being a healer or just including healing in your meditations and prayers, accept the thought that spirit welcomes your attempts, no matter what the form, ritual or not. I’m just saying that ritual isn’t necessary, so don’t let it hang you up. Allow yourself to expand into what feels right for you, and you will be a wonderful conduit for healing.

Where we had to have some sort of structure based systems in the past so that it would bolster our focus and faith, now, all that is really necessary, and only ever was necessary, is our intentions.

If reiki only worked by placing your hands in certain ways, in certain places and for certain periods of time, then this is limiting Reiki to our physical reality, which is not the purpose of energy work. The purpose of energy work is to get past the body, not be limited by it.

Energy has no limits and therefore, neither are there limits on how to use it. It will all come down to what you are comfortable in believing or allowing to be true for you, at that time, and that’s the thing to see. You are allowed, even encouraged, to see your beliefs differently every day. Let them evolve and move you into new territories. Energy has no limits, so neither should your beliefs.

If energy and beliefs are similar, then choosing to believe something differently tomorrow has not wasted the energy of the previous belief, it merely changed that energy into another form.

When using energy for healing, it’s kind of like saying you are using air for breathing, because pure energy heals by transforming stuck or static energy into something else, and so it just leaves, gets recycled, goes on its way. You get the idea. This leaves you with clean, pure, healing energy in its place. This ‘fresh energy’, if you would like to call it that, revitalizes your energy field which is designed to naturally and automatically heal and revitalize your physical body.

So now, having learned that energy works all on its own, we just need to steer it where it can be most useful, and that is where an energy healer comes into play. With respect to chakras and auras, we are not healing anything, we are simply steering or channeling focused energy into a disrupted, but existing healing system. This focused energy removes or reduces the disruptions so the healing system can work at a higher capacity than before, and the healing takes effect on its own.
